Cognitive Function and Style: INFP and ISFP Style

Hey everyone, welcome back. Today, I’m bringing you another video in my series exploring some possible connections and patterns between cognitive type and style. We’re looking at INFP and ISFP today, and before we get into the examples, here’s a quick disclaimer: I use only one database for this analysis, which is the database from Vultology.com.

This system is its own thing—it’s different from MBTI, different from Socionics, and different from any results you’d get from those biased online quizzes. Instead, this system is based on deducing cognitive functions and information metabolism through physical gestures, micro-expressions, mannerisms, and the way someone speaks. It’s fascinating, and the contributors are all certified, so it’s really consistent. Check it out if you’re interested.

INFP Style

The INFP style is interesting, especially compared to the ENFP. I actually did a video on the ENFP style a few months ago, so it’s worth checking that out for comparison if you’re interested. The INFP and ENFP both kind of exist in this “twee” world, but with a difference: the ENFP is super twee, while the INFP is more like “twee plus manic pixie dream girl.” The INFP also has a bit more of an edge than the ENFP.

For the ENFP, I’d say their vibe is more “inner child” or “kindergarten teacher”—and I mean that in the best way possible! The INFP, on the other hand, has a more personal, eclectic style, with influences from different sources that they make their own. Here are three examples of INFP style that showcase this unique vibe:

Olivia Cooke

Olivia Cooke is a great example of INFP style. She draws from various bygone eras and gives them a fresh, oversized, spunky-chunky twist. She loves bold upper silhouettes, fun shoes, and long lines. Olivia mixes more conventionally feminine details with more conventionally masculine ones, creating looks that are eclectic yet cohesive.

Mia Goth

Next up is Mia Goth, whose style includes a lot of eclectic elements. Her outfits have a mixed bag quality, but they’re always fresh and full of exaggerated little details that make her stand out. She has a vibe like she’s blessed by the “thrift gods,” someone who would go into a thrift store and come out looking like she dressed for an editorial shoot. Mia has this way of putting together looks that feel like they’re just for her; even if you tried to wear the same pieces, it wouldn’t look quite the same.

Rose Byrne

Lastly, we have Rose Byrne. Her style is a bit more classic and subdued, yet it still has that “twee” lightness to it. Rose looks great in sweet, perky outfits with mixed textures and adorable patterns. Even when she’s wearing something casual and modern, like a sweatshirt and cropped pants, she brings an adorable vibe to it. Her looks are quaint and far from modern but in the best way—she has this timeless charm that suits her well.

ISFP Style

Now, let’s talk about the ISFP style, which has its own unique charm. ISFPs have Se in the second slot, and what I’ve seen from looking at a whole bunch of these types is that Se gives them a more sensual, side-glance vibe that creates impact and maintains an air of seduction. Their outfits often have that playful, cheeky touch.

Aubrey Plaza

So with Aubrey, we’re seeing vintage-leaning outfits that are still a little bit exaggerated in some way—whether it’s a shorter hem, an exaggerated neckline, or some cute ruffle sleeves—something that pops up and is very vintage leaning in a sense. But we’re seeing a little bit more of that seductiveness, less spunky-chunky twee, and more sexy. It’s like if you give proper or almost slightly formal clothes a winky, cheeky touch, and it’s just fun to look at. The difference between her and ENTP Elizabeth Olsen is striking. Check out the video she’s in in my playlist; it just looks so different. The dress shines on Aubrey, while Elizabeth, who’s equally beautiful, just looks out of place. I think the dress is just a little bit too sparkly and busy for her.

Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey doesn’t need much of an introduction—her style is sensual, girlish, lacy, and sweetly seductive. She has a “vintage babydoll fever dream” vibe, and there’s something both vintage first lady and vintage mistress about her look. To get a sense of what I mean, watch her National Anthem video. Lana’s style feels theatrical, like she’s pulling from the vibes of scandalous politicians from a few decades ago. She has a look that’s part fantasy, part reality, but with a vintage edge that’s all her own.

Jackie Kennedy and Natalie Portman

Next, we have actual first lady Jackie Kennedy, as well as Natalie Portman, who played her. Their style is a little more classic and subdued but with an elegant, effervescent vibe. Despite looking so proper, they’re not cold, stern, or minimalist; there’s a free, cheeky, and sensual quality to their looks. Think of Jackie’s style in the context of her time—this was an era when miniskirts were just taking off, so it’s interesting to see how she blended timeless elegance with a hint of boldness.

You can see exaggerated details in their style, like Jackie’s giant roll-collared coats or the distinct shapes of her dresses. It’s clear and impactful, with a hint of subtle sexiness.

INFP & ISFP Inspired Outfits

To wrap things up, here are a few outfit ideas for each type:

INFP Outfit Ideas

  • Outfit 1: A vintage patterned dress paired with chunky boots for that eclectic INFP vibe.
  • Outfit 2: Try a graphic vintage tee, high-waisted corduroy pants, Mary Janes, and a faux fur scarf. It’s quirky and comfortable, capturing that whimsical, unique essence.

ISFP Outfit Ideas

  • Outfit 1: For a more refined look, a silky top with high-waisted tapered pants and sleek slingback heels gives an effortless yet put-together feel.
  • Outfit 2: A ruffled mock-neck mini dress with bold, chunky heels adds a fun, slightly dramatic flair.
